Beautiful, wild, funny, and lost, Katie Kampenfelt takes a year off before college to find herself, all the while chronicling her adventures in an anonymous blog into which she pours her innermost secrets. Eventually, Katie’s fearless narrative begins to crack, and dark pieces of her past emerge.
I was fortunate enough to see a special screening of the release and was incredibly impressed with how Allison Burnett is able to see insightfully into the human persona. He continues on the fuel of the brilliance of Red Meat and chooses up and coming actors like he did before James Frain and John Slattery were nobodies. Britt Robertson melds into her role perfectly, and the cinematography/use of her correspondence via social media is a brilliant new effort. Martin Sheen was an excellent choice as well as Robert Patrick who gives an outstanding performance. Go and see this film, you won’t be disappointed.
P. K. is a comedy of ideas about a stranger in the city, who asks questions that no one has asked before. They are innocent, child-like questions, but they bring about catastrophic answers. People who are set in their ways for generations, are forced to reappraise their world when they see it from PK’s innocent eyes. In the process PK makes loyal friends and powerful foes. Mends broken lives and angers the establishment. P. K.’s childlike curiosity transforms into a spiritual odyssey for him and millions of others. The film is an ambitious and uniquely original exploration of complex philosophies. It is also a simple and humane tale of love, laughter and letting-go. Finally, it is a moving saga about a friendship between strangers from worlds apart.
